Holy Cow! Houston Chronicle Endorses Rick Roriega
In that context, she'd previously written about the great Democratic candidate running against one of the most idiotic Republican senators. No small glory. And even though this is Texas, it's a doable pick-up state. In fact, Hill and Bill recently headlined a few shindigs to help Noriega win.
The Houston Chronicle fullly agrees with the howler. Noriega is absolutely the best candidate and they've now officially endorsed him.
The howler will have to keep her eyes and ears open to see if other newspapers have already endorsed him or will follow suit. As she predicted way back in June 2007, Noriega was to be the Dem candidate and then on Election Day, he would go on to give The Cornman more than he ever expected to handle.Come January, the halls of Congress will likely be populated by strengthened Democratic majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Texas will need able representation in all arenas in that shifting legislative environment.
It will be especially important for Texans to have a strong, respected voice inside the expected Democratic majority in the Senate. Rick Noriega offers such a voice, with a distinctive Lone Star tone and perspective. The Chronicle endorses Noriega for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Republican John Cornyn.
Noriega, a Houstonian, describes himself as a Texas Democrat. That term, once common currency in the state's political conversation, seems to have fallen out of favor over the past several Republican-dominated years. But it resonates once more in this season of voter discontent with partisanship uber alles. Some old-fashioned moderate bipartisanship, Texas style, should be much welcomed in the Washington debate, particularly on overheated topics such as energy and immigration. Rick Noriega can provide it.
Like Fighting Dem Jim Webb, Noriega is the real deal; and here's why.
Noriega is exactly the right candidate to run against John Cornyn. Noriega spent a year in Afghanistan on the front lines of the "war on terror". He's also been deployed to the Texas border to train National Guardsmen on matters of border security. What are the two biggest issues these days? John Cornyn can talk about these things. Rick Noriega has actually been there and done them.

If you're a news junkie in need of a fix, go watch it; if not, save your $$$.
The movie rehashed Junior's Oedipal relationship with Poppy as well as his destructive callow conduct as a youth and president.
Truth be told, "W" was way too kind to Bush, painting him as easily pliant and compliant to sweet words uttered by Darth Cheney and his evil cronies instead of a leading cheerleader in the axis of shame that became his administration.

McCain Disses Black Cousins -- but Brother Joe Doesn't
You see, not only did his forebears own a few slaves in Mississippi but he has quite a few cousins as a result.
South Florida Times explains.

Perhaps this is what the whispering campaign in 2000 in South Carolina was actually referring to...one never knows. But like Black Political Thought writes, "Isn't it funny how [McCain] could beam with joy at his adopted daughter from Bangladesh, but yet he has turned his back on his own black family members."
Yes, isn't it funny? Puts the howler to mind of another Republican would-be president who didn't want anyone to know about his ancestry. Does President George Macaca ring a bell, anyone??

Horrific News
That's right, Troy Davis will be executed for a crime he didn't commit as the the rusty wheels of injustice continue to chug along.
The court's one-sentence ruling paves the way for the state of Georgia to put the 39-year-old Davis to death, nearly two decades after he was found guilty of killing a police officer outside a fast-food restaurant.Less than two weeks ago, Mr. Davis was slated to be executed but the Supreme Court stepped in only hours before Georgia carried out the venal deed. Bill Clinton to Campaign for Rick Noriega
The Houston Chronicle reports that "[f]ormer president Bill Clinton is headlining a rally tonight for Senate candidate Rick Noriega in Dallas." Noriega is running against the idiotic Sen. John "Corndog" Cornyn.
Mr. Noriega hopes that Mr. Clinton and others can help him pull big vote totals out of Dallas County, an area that’s been rapidly trending blue since 2006, when Democrats swept every local contest they entered.Noriega is a state representative with a totally awesome resume who deserves to win.

Virginians Heart Gov. Tim Kaine
The Roanoke Times reports.
Howling Latina is mighty glad to hear this bit of good news; her pet peeve against Kaine was his early support of Obama; otherwise, she's always loved him.A majority of Virginia voters approve of Gov. Tim Kaine's job performance despite looming state budget problems and a legislative stalemate over transportation funding, according to a new poll conducted for The Roanoke Times.
In a survey by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, 54 percent rat-ed Kaine's job performance as "excellent" or "good" while 11 percent gave the Democratic governor a "poor" rating. The results come from a telephone survey of 625 registered voters conducted Monday through Wednesday. The poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
Hillary Campaigning with Noriega
Howling Latina has written several posts on why Noriega is an awesome candidate and what a huge improvement he would be over rabid wingnut Corndog. Noriega has a great biography -- very similar to Sen. Jim Webb of Virginia -- a war veteran with a strong record of public service.
Dallas News reported that Hillary flew to the Rio Grande Valley where she is a rock star and asked supporters to help send Noriega to Congress.
Clinton, who enjoys immense popularity...emphasized Noriega's military background — even calling him "lieutenant colonel" at one point — and said, "we need his leadership and his experience."Indeed.
Meanwhile, Cornyn has a new ad out falsely claiming that he tried to warn everybody about the looming financial meltdown but gosh darn it, no one would listen to him...
"It shouldn't have happened," Cornyn said in the ad. Washington only got to work when the answer was too late and too expensive. We need to hold the guilty parties responsible."Hmmm, what do you mean we, pale face?? This is all on you and your Republican buddies who for decades railed against any government oversight and foolishly believed free markets would take care of everything.
