Reaction to McCain's V-P Pick Around the Media

"With VP Pick, McCain Reclaims Maverick Image," writes Washington Post. "An All-Out Battle for Women's Votes Begins," opines Juliet Eilperin and Anne Kornblut also with Washington Post.

"Obama & Co. must take high road on Palin," warns Chicago Sun-Times. A quickie look at Obamanation disabuses the notion and finds no takers but lots of small-town slamming and sexist posts.

One astute commenter from Chicago writes in the Sun-Times that "DEMOCRATES GOT THIS SO WRONG THIS ELECTION YEAR! Obama screwed up, just as expected and predicted…"

Boston Globe headlines, "Gov. Sarah Palin: A Surprise Breath of Fresh Air.

"Schwarzenegger likes the Palin pick," Los Angeles Times reports. "It would be 'terrific' to have a female helping run things, he says."

McCain's Pick Also a Maverick," pronounces The Houston Chronicle. "She is breathtakingly unlike any other vice presidential pick in American history...and rose to buck the Alaskan GOP hierarchy while charming voters."

Across the oceans: "Choice of Palin appeals to Clinton supporters," observes Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

"McCain makes history with choice of running mate," writes Steve Quinn and Calvin Woodward of Associated Press and published in newspapers throughout the world like Herald Zeitung of Germany and The Guardian of United Kingdom.

Meanwhile Obama has been reduced to whining and calling Palin names. Now contrast this to Hillary's gracious statement yesterday congratulating Palin -- not slamming her.

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton...said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”
It looks like the law of karma is continuing to take a well-deserved toll on Obamanation with a few choice words from Geraldine Ferraro:
"There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign, by how she was treated by the Democratic National Committee — [Democratic party chairman] Howard Dean not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media. They’ll be looking to see what happens now.
And former Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson hits the nail on the head with a blog post that notes how McCain's choice is “going to have a lot of women voters wondering why Senator Obama didn’t tap Senator Clinton as his running mate.”

Why did you forsake 18 million voters, Obama?? Get ready to do a little groveling between now and November; remember, you did pray for humility on the Western Wall.

Comments:
Repeat after me...There aren't 18 million voters. Why wasn't Hillary's debt paid off? Her "18 million" voters could have easily done that but they didn't. You know why? Some were Republican voters looking to extend the primaries. Most are now Obama supporters, giving money to his campaign...over 50 million last month. A small minority like yourself, are trying to puff yourself up and make it seem like you're bigger than you are. You're not. Obama has moved on from you. I know it sucks to not get the Presidential candidate you want and that you're not going to be courted by Obama himself, but you'll be ok when he wins in November.

BTW, thank you for the continuous donations to the Obama campaign. Your generous support is appreciated.

Why is Obama getting contributions while Clinton's debt isn't yet paid? Well, maybe Clinton's supporters are decent people who can see beyond their own welfare - not that I think supporting Obama contributes to anyone's welfare.

Or maybe because too many Clinton supporters are in positions where they can't give, because they're scrambling to get the bills paid, put food on the table, and just don't have extra for politic contributions. You know, the people who really need a champion to lead the fight to restore justice. While too many Obama supporters are well-off political dilletantes who are in it for the game, with no concern that there are real people who will get hurt when Obama betrays the liberal agenda they've mistakenly ascribed to him.

My guesses. YMMV.

Yes. I'm living on champagne and caviar right now...it's delicious. I think I'll start a fire even though we're in the middle of summer with some hundred dollar bills that I have around. Ahh...yes. I live the good life.

Maybe the reason why "18 million" supporters didn't give to Hillary's debt was because they realized that the money they would give to her would do no good to elect a Democrat to be President. Maybe they saw someone who couldn't fiscally manage her campaign when they have to live within tight budgets. Maybe they saw that Hillary had enough disposable income to give over 10 million to her campaign.

Yeah, those PUMAs sure showed us how to raise money. Where were those "18 million" angry supporters in Denver. Oh that's right 50 of them showed up to a meeting. I thought thousands of buses were going to descend on Denver.

Keep coming up with excuses sister of ye. If collect enough of them, maybe you can turn them into an argument.

okay America, lets get things straight. Obama has accomplished what during his "long career"? An asbestos battle... votes that say present instead of yes or no on important subject matters. He can't make a decision based on his own judgement without whining and studdering. He is a very good speaker, he is very educated and smart, but what does that prove? He has no background. He promises change. I could say my dog is running for president, he will certainly bring change. Now take a president with little experience and put him with a loud mouth, older, "experienced" man and tell me he is the most qualified. Mcain has wisdom, whit, he is straight forward. His pick for the vice position is brilliant. Palin is a woman of her word, a true familly woman, and if given the chance would give her husband a "tater" fist bump to show she is youthful. America has no hope except for prepairing for socialism with Obama. I pray God's will is done, and i hope that includes Mcain/Palin...
