Apropos to Everything...

Just in time for the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee members meeting of May 31 that will decide whether votes from Michigan and Florida will count towards the Democratic presidential delegate count or not, HBO is kicking off a docudrama on Sunday with eerie parallels.

In the movie, HBO transports viewers "behind the scenes of th[e] 2000 presidential election" that was heavily disputed and only settled after the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in with their controvertial decision that awarded the presidency to George W. Bush and changed the course of history.

"Recount" is a fictional narrative of the seminal event with an "all-star cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Laura Dern, Tom Wilkinson and Denis Leary." It will premiere at 9 p.m. EDT.

The film plays out over a 36-day period, walking viewers through what took place from Election Day to the date the race was finally decided.

“We worked very hard to make it as historically accurate as possible,” explains director Jay Roach, better known for zany comedies such as “Austin Powers” and “Meet the Parents.” “It’s meant to capture the essence of what actually went on within the state of Florida within that limited time frame.”

Jolly, jolly, jolly. Does anyone besides the howler see the delicious irony in timing...???

Just asking...
