Webb Spanks Nancy Pelosi

This morning on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," Sen. Jim Webb spanked Nancy Pelosi for her inane blather about superdelegates.

Near the end of the interview, Stephanopoulos played a clip of Pelosi asserting that the will of the people should not be overturned by superdelegates, whatever that means (since Florida and Michigan votes are not going to count), and asked Webb what criteria he would use in deciding which candidate to support.

The howler doesn't have the exact script from a few minutes ago, but Webb said something to the effect that since Democratic party leaders set the rules that allows superdelegates to use their own best judgment, he would vote for the person who in his judgment would make the best president.

Now HL is not a prophet and unlike Larry Sabato, she also doesn't have a crystall ball but...

She can certainly read the tea leaves between the lines. And if she were Obama, she would be more than a little worried. Webb seems to be leaning towards Hillary. Should she need his vote to win the Democratic nomination, Webb will likely support her. Not so sure the same applies if the shoes were reversed with Obama.

The junior senator from Virginia may be a political novice, but as George Allen can attest, Webb is no dummy. First the joint press release and now this.

All very, very interesting.
