More Death, Give Me More Death
A few days ago, the Georgia House passed a bill that would have allowed judges to impose the death penalty if 10 out of 12 jurors rendered a guilty capital murder verdict.
Now never mind the pesky American notion that verdicts should be unanimous. That's just oh, so Old Mutual...
Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed one day later. In a strong rebuke to the lower chamber, the Senate rejected the House bill by 44-7.
But this reproach may be only temporary. As some will recall, Georgia is the very same state that thinks it's just peachy to execute an innocent man.

House Majority Whip Barry Fleming (R-Harlem), who is running for Congress onto [another bill].That's right, boys and girls; there are elections to be won, after all.
