Huckabee's Son Arrested

The son of Rev. David Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate was arrested for carrying a gun on a flight.

Reuters via Raw Story has the latest:

David Huckabee, a son of former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was arrested on Thursday after trying to board an airliner with a loaded pistol, police said.

Huckabee, 26, was jailed after an X-ray of his carry-on bag revealed the weapon, identified in a police report as a Glock .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol containing eight live rounds of ammunition.

That's right, my dear Virginia blog wingnuts! What sayeth thou now?!? Any added snark you wish to parlay about Sen. Jim Webb's aide?!?

Once again, the law of karma is right on time.

Comments:
HL: Just an update on Phillip's unintentional gun situation: By now you've most likely seen the Wash. Post article today (it's 1550 on Sun. the 30th of April '07) that reports that the D.C. prosecutor decided not to file chargesagainst Phillip because there was no evidence that could prove knowledge and intent, both of which are required by D.C. law.

The Senate Security Guards unanimously testified that Phillip's stunned reaction to the screening that revealed the gun and ammunition, as well as the video recording of his reaction and his totally cooperative responses and demeanor, convinced them that he was 100% truthful when he told them that he didn't realize he had the gun and ammunition, and that the mistake was completely inadvertent and unintentional.

IMHO, Phillip's statement through his attorney that he prefers not to make any public statement on the conclusion is just further evidence of his integrity -- neither he nor Jim Webb will ever use the correct decision by the prosecuting attorney for any political advantage, and so far as they (and all other reasonable and thoughtful people) are concerned this unfortunate incident is now a closed matter. Not even the wingnuts can find anything more to talk about; pundit speculation to the contrary, Phillip's service to Jim Webb, Virginia and the U.S. will continue unabated.
