STF Up Already

The sky is falling; the sky is falling!

For the umpteenth time, Bush called a news conference to demand, yes, demand that Congress give him authority to rule without any restrains or face the abyss from the enemy.

"Time is running out," Bush admonishes.

Why yes it is Mr. President; you've got a little less than five months before a newly elected Congress takes office in Washington. And with the good Lord's help, Democrats will be in the majority in at least one of the chambers of Congress, haul your administration before them and at long last, bring light and accountability to government.

After the latest rebuff by Republican senators and Powell weighing in against illegal tampering with international and national laws, the cornered varmint in chief decided to throw a public temper tantrum.

When asked about Powell's smackdown, the Washington Post reports that Bush "bristled...that doubts are growing about 'the moral basis' of the U.S. fight against terrorism."

"If there's any comparison between the compassion and decency of the American people and the terrorist tactics of extremists, it's flawed logic," Bush said, his voice rising. "It's unacceptable to think that there's any kind of comparison between the behavior of the United States of America and the action of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children to achieve an objective."
Raw Story writes that a CNN reporter framed Bush's behavior during the press conference as "belligerent." And the New York Times notes that "Mr. Bush raised his voice several times and poked the air with his index fingers for emphasis."

That's right; so there! Our troops would not be at greater risk by trashing the rule of law; you see, I am your "presidente" and my words and deeds are infallible.

Bush is at war with the enemy, all right; and as Americans have witnessed during the last five years, the enemy has evolved to include anyone and everyone who disagrees with him on executive power; or what should be done with enemy combatants; or how to conduct Bush's so-called war on terror.

The latest person to make the enemy's list is former secretary of state, Gen. Colin Powell.

Mr. President, our patience with your vitriol is waning; and time, as you said, is not on our side. Please observe that your warning especially includes YOU. Do the world a favor and STF up. Enough of your divisiveness and lies!
