Israeli Police Arrest Al-Jazeera Chief for Second Time

Fox News reports that Israeli police have arrested Jerusalem's Al-Jazeera chief for the second time.

Walid Al Omari was questioned for several hours about issues related to Israeli military censorship rules, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. Al Omari was released without being charged.
This dastardly act against the free press is inexcusable. Imagine the Bush administration arresting Leonard Downie, executive editor of the Washington Post; or better yet, Fred Hiatt, editorial page editor, warmonger and media whore.

Fox reports that Israel detained Al Omari for several hours last Sunday as well.

Frigging unbelievable!

Comments:
The "good thing" is that Israel did not follow Bush's lead and bomb Al Jazeera's headquarters....but Israel "controls" the news of what's happening in Palestine...only "approved" embedded reporters are allowed in and given the Israel tour....The Isreal version of "em" bed reporters....Thanks for posting this. (I don't watch Fox News so I'm glad someone has the stomach to keep an eye on them.)

A Lebanese college professor on democracynow.org today stated that Americans should cut off the corporate news tv and get their news of what's happening in Lebanon here at electroniclebanon.net I also suggest the Beirut indymedia website (They were the first to report on the 20 civilians008 entire families) bombed by Israeli aircraft after being ordered from their homes.....
