Russert Loses to Stephanopoulos

Poor Timmy, he's losing his mojo.

TVNEWSER reports that for the first time since 1999, "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" beat "Meet the Press with Tim Russert" in the critical 25-54 demographic group on May 21.

Oh yea, and they also beat-out CBS's "Face the Nation."

Staffers on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos are thrilled about last Sunday's ratings...

"This was 'This Week's' first win over 'Meet' -- with full coverage -- since August 1999 and the program's biggest A 25-54 lead over 'Face' since May 2, 2004," a press release said. ABC had 1,080,000 demo viewers, compared to NBC's 1,020,000, CBS's 950,000, and Fox's 570,000. Among total viewers, NBC had 3,380,000, ABC had 2,640,000, CBS had 2,610,000, and Fox had 1,410,000....

Condoleeza Rice was making her millionth appearance on "Meet the Press" that Sunday. Russert's other guests were Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Republican Rep. Charlie Norwood of Georgia.

That's right, Timmie, keep putting all those GOP government officials and Republican shills and before you know it, you'll be relegated to Cable-land.

Comments:
Steph has a good mix of segments and formats. The reporter roundtable is a personal highlight

Russert on the other hand only has two-three segments and while generally good its the same format week in and week out and there is less and less to distinguish it from a typical cable news interview

Russert has also become a mouthpiece for the administration. And as the Prez slumps, so does Russert!
