GOPers Switching to Democratic Party
Yes, it's true; and in Kansas.
As they old adage says, as Kansas goes, so goes the nation.
The Associated Press via Raw Story reports that the "former chairman of the Kansas Republican Party jumped ship in a big way Tuesday, switching his affiliation to Democrat."
It seems Mark Parkinson, the head of the GOP from 1999 to 2003 changed his allegiance, hoping to run as popular Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' running mate.
Johnson County Elections Commissioner Brian Newby confirmed that Mark Parkinson, the state GOP chairman from 1999 to 2003, came to the office and switched his party affiliation shortly before noon.Just you wait. Howling Latina is betting Francine Busby is going to win the special election in California's 50th district next Tuesday; and after that, expect more switching from folks that just don't like the Republican Party of Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, Karl Rove and his merry band of corrupt dunces.
And yes, my previous post about Majority Leader Harry Reid is a bit of premature hyperbole, but prophetic in scope.
Now that the president's poll numbers are in the toilet, moderate Republicans are bolting; and the ones who stay want control.
When his current term expires in 2007, Lt. Gov. John Moore , yet another ex-Republican from Kansas, has decided to not seek reelection.Republican House Speaker Doug Mays said he was disgusted by Parkinson's lack of loyalty to the party that made him chairman, but he isn't surprised by the rift.
The Republican Party, which has dominated Kansas politics since
statehood, has shifted to the right in recent years and it inevitably will shift back to the left, he said. Instead of defecting to challenge one another, though, Republicans need to find common ground, he said.
Well, starting with phone banking for Jim Webb, guys let's rock and roll; and make sure Virginia is on the list of Democratic pickups in the fall.
The time has come; the future is now. Si se puede!
