Meet the Press Guests
To celebrate Easter Sunday, Meet the Press is having an all-star religious guest panel this coming Sunday.
Sister Joan Chittister, a Benedictine sister, co-chair of the Network of Spiritual Progressives, author of "Called to Question: A Spiritual Memoir" and Executive Director of Benetvision Research and Resource Center for Contemporary Spirituality.
Rabbi Michael Lerner, editor of Ikkun Magaine and author of "The Left Hand of God: Taking Back our Country from the Religious Right."
Jon Meacham, Managinig Editor of Newsweek and author of "American Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation."
Seyyed Hossein Nasr, professor of Islamic Studies at George Washington University and author of "The Heart of Islam: Enduring Values for Humanity."
Rev. Richard John Neuhause, editor of First Things and author of "Catholic Matters: Confusion, Controversy, and the Splendor of Truth"
Joel Osteen, Senior Pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and author of "Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential."
Nearly every guest expresses their faith from a progressive perspective; and Osteen, who I love to watch on Sunday mornings is an evangelical who shied from the "fire and brimstone" crap on Larry King Show and preaches the gospel of hope.

This is an amazing lineup for Tim Russert. He must be getting tired of progressives beating up on him for being such a White House apologist!

Actually, it was a pretty good program. The guy from Newsweek is an ace -- and I'm a historian (not "an historian", despite the academic police) by training. The Sister was also making sense while the priest smirked.
