Compare and Contrast

Should you choose to accept the assignment, today's lesson calls for you to compare and contrast responses to McCain's historical nomination of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate.

Immediately after McCain announced his selection, the Obama campaign sent out the following press release:
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same."
Here's Hillary Clinton's immediate response:
“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton...said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”
Soon, Obama & Company realized they were sounding more than a little shrill and pissing just about every American from small towns off; and they did what they've always done in the past. Regroup and repackage the response -- in accordance with what Hillary had earlier said or done.
“We send our congratulations to Gov. Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the Republican nominee for vice president," said the Democratic ticket in a joint statement. "It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics. While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward, Gov. Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign."
Well, glad to see the campaign finally got it right...

Sarah Palin's Judicial Appointment

Jeralyn of Talk Left helpfully writes a post about Sarah Palin's one judicial appointment since she took office as governor in Alaska.

Winfree, 54, was born in Fairbanks. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in 1977 and both a law degree and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California in 1981.

He worked for Perkins, Coie law office in Anchorage 1982-85, then opened his own law office in Valdez, practicing there from 1985-90. Winfree returned to Fairbanks to open a legal partnership, Winfree and Hompesch, which he closed in 1996 in favor of the Winfree Law office, which he has operated in Fairbanks since 1996 as a six-attorney private law office.

In 2006, Winfree was hired as general counsel and executive director for the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation. He has worked tirelessly to provide free legal services to Alaskans in need, and was a driving force in a four-year, 200-case effort to recover federal funds lost to physically and mentally disabled Alaskans in the bankruptcy of a Fairbanks service organization.

Winfree has been actively involved in the state's legal community, serving as a member, secretary, treasurer, president-elect and president of the Alaska Bar Association Board of Governors from 1990-96. He was also a member and president of the Western States Bar Conference; and member of the American Bar Association, the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Winfree has served on the University of Alaska, Fairbanks' College of Fellows from 1992-96 and on the university's Museum of the North advisory council since 2006. He has been a Rotary Club member and officer since 1992, and a member of the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce from 1987-2006. Winfree has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Prince William Sound Community College, and at the University of Alaska's Tanana Valley Campus.

Quite an imposing record of accomplishment, any open-minded person has to readily concede.

Where is the beef?? Where is the wingnuttiness?? The howler will keep searching and report back as she learns more...

Pro-Obama Site Slams Paley for Supporting Gay Rights

Can these guys blog and chew gum at the same time...?

Thanks to Green Little Football, we learned today that a pro-Obama site foolishly gamed google so its post would pop up anytime a person inserted the name "Sarah Paley" with the word "gay."

Sarah Palin (GOV-Alaska-Republican), supports gay rights, says Anchorage Daily News.

Quote “Gov. Sarah Palin vetoed a bill Thursday that sought to block the state from giving public employee benefits such as health insurance to same-sex couples.”

Quote “”It is the Governor’s intention to work with the legislature and to give the people of Alaska an opportunity to express their wishes and intentions whether these benefits should continue,“ the statement from Palin’s administration said.”

Coghill said he’s interested in a new plan that would allow state employees to designate one person — maybe a same-sex partner, but also possibly a family member or roommate — who would be eligible for state-paid benefits. But the employee would have to pay to add that person to his or her benefits.“Sarah Palin’s veto gave gays the same rights as married couples in Alaska.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote for gay marriage.

Are these yahoos a bunch of idiots or what?? After a little sleuthing, GLF learned the site owner was an Obamazoid shilling for the man. Of course, former Hillary supporters and independents have now had a chance to see that unlike the hype, Gov. Palin is no ideologue and respects civil liberties for ALL.

One more reason not to be afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, my little chickedees. His threatening growls are quite toothless.

Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington...

Talk Left has posted a few of the answers Gov. Sarah Palin gave Anchorage Daily News back when she was running for governor in October 2006. From her answers, she's no right-wing nutjob.

Palin told Daily News that she would support capital punishment if it applied to adults who kill children. She also opposed public funding for elective abortions. Although she supported Bush's effort on the war against terrorism (and really, what Republican is going to say he or she doesn't?), she wanted the president to "develop an exit strategy." She did not want to see the federal government increase spending on faith-based initiatives. If Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, she would not support a governor "unilaterally ban[ning] anything. It would be up to the people of Alaska to discuss and decide how we would like our society to reflect our values." She believed in community outreach to minorities and a diverse "task force."

Hmmm, doesn't exactly fit the matrix Obama supporters are trying to construct for the little sweetie. Remember, only weeks ago Obama was shedding tears after the Supreme Court ruled the death penalty for child molesters to be unconstitutional. And let's not forget how Obama thinks we should increase faith-based initiatives (not that the howler disagrees; sometimes they can work wonders but not every lefty feels like she does). Palin seems to be made of libertarian fiber in the mold of Teddy Roosevelt: individualism and let each state work out the abortion issue while they load up their rifles.

Indeed, Gov. Polin not only has a great personal story to tell but a colorful hubby. As a youth, Sarah Barracuda (as she began to be called by her peers for her intensity on the basketball court) was a sports star, beauty pageant winner and scholarship grantee. Taking advantage of every opportunity, she finished college before starting family life, briefly working as a sports reporter and then won public office to the city council, mayor's office and governor's mansion -- taking all corrupt comers along the way.

Although Todd Polin is Alaska's Republican First Gentleman, he and 19-year old son are not registered Republicans. Hubby's mom is one-quarter Yup'ik (indigenous peoples of Alaska); he met the lady governor during his high school years. Like a couple of starry-eyed kids in love with overhyped hormones, they eloped right after Gov. Polin graduated from college to save mom and pop some dough.

How fetchingly romantic!

Mr. Polin is employed by oil giant British Petroleum in a "non-managerial position." Right after his wife was elected governor, he resigned as manager to avoid any conflict of interest. During the short summer months, he also works as a fisherman and is a union card member to boot -- the quintessential schema of Regular Joe. Oh yea, and their son signed up last September 11 and is on his way to Iraq "on the same date next month."

Yes, for all those folks gnashing their teeth, yanking their hair and thrashing about at the thought of Roe v. Wade being overturned very soon, perhaps you should've been a little more attentive during the primaries and paid closer attention to polls that foretold a likely Obama loss. You should have done everything you could to make sure the candidate with the most solid experience and best opportunity to beat McCain was on the Democratic ticket. But no, you opted to drink the kool aid and now you want Bill and Hill and Geraldine and Rendell and Strickland and PUMAs to help get you out of your self-inflicted mess. Well, it looks like you'll have to work on your own while PUMAs do everything they can to elect down-ticket candidates.

In the meantime, don't cry for me, Argentina. We'll be by the sideline waiting to see how you make out with your unity schtick and incongruous kumbaya.

Bwah, ha, ha, ha, ha.

After you're recovered from busting at the seam from a bad case of schedenfreude, here's a link to Geraldine's op-ed published by the New York Daily News.

Reaction to McCain's V-P Pick Around the Media

"With VP Pick, McCain Reclaims Maverick Image," writes Washington Post. "An All-Out Battle for Women's Votes Begins," opines Juliet Eilperin and Anne Kornblut also with Washington Post.

"Obama & Co. must take high road on Palin," warns Chicago Sun-Times. A quickie look at Obamanation disabuses the notion and finds no takers but lots of small-town slamming and sexist posts.

One astute commenter from Chicago writes in the Sun-Times that "DEMOCRATES GOT THIS SO WRONG THIS ELECTION YEAR! Obama screwed up, just as expected and predicted…"

Boston Globe headlines, "Gov. Sarah Palin: A Surprise Breath of Fresh Air.

"Schwarzenegger likes the Palin pick," Los Angeles Times reports. "It would be 'terrific' to have a female helping run things, he says."

McCain's Pick Also a Maverick," pronounces The Houston Chronicle. "She is breathtakingly unlike any other vice presidential pick in American history...and rose to buck the Alaskan GOP hierarchy while charming voters."

Across the oceans: "Choice of Palin appeals to Clinton supporters," observes Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

"McCain makes history with choice of running mate," writes Steve Quinn and Calvin Woodward of Associated Press and published in newspapers throughout the world like Herald Zeitung of Germany and The Guardian of United Kingdom.

Meanwhile Obama has been reduced to whining and calling Palin names. Now contrast this to Hillary's gracious statement yesterday congratulating Palin -- not slamming her.

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton...said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”
It looks like the law of karma is continuing to take a well-deserved toll on Obamanation with a few choice words from Geraldine Ferraro:
"There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign, by how she was treated by the Democratic National Committee — [Democratic party chairman] Howard Dean not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media. They’ll be looking to see what happens now.
And former Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson hits the nail on the head with a blog post that notes how McCain's choice is “going to have a lot of women voters wondering why Senator Obama didn’t tap Senator Clinton as his running mate.”

Why did you forsake 18 million voters, Obama?? Get ready to do a little groveling between now and November; remember, you did pray for humility on the Western Wall.

New Blogroll

Since Howling Latina was summarily delinked by many lefties in the Virginia blogosphere, with hits nearing 500 a day, it's time she returns the favor. And yes, for each site deleted, it's been lovingly replaced by pro-Hillary sites, of course.

Historical Election

As sure as eggs and KitKat, every presidential season, politicians try to define the moment as the most monumental election ever. Unlike previous ballot choices, however, this year truly heralds an historical moment.

With Sen. John McCain's selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska for the number two spot, McCain has made sure the country will have the change it's been clamoring for. Right from under Obama's willing nose, McCain has stolen the thunder that could've been Obama's had he chosen Hillary as his running mate.

As the Washington Post notes, "In a world full of hierarchies, women have always had secondary power to men, ever since hunting and gathering times..." And don't think for a second that women are not fully aware of the symbolism that their votes could ensure a woman is ensconced at the highest level of office.

After Hillary was inexplicably dismissed as a candidate for the top ticket by Donna, Nancy, Obama and the rest of the gamy gang because she allegedly was too divisive (code word for bitch) or married to the wrong man who just so happened to be the only two-term Democratic president during the last 50 years and counting and who demonstrated he still has it by electrifying every person at Invesco and across the land, yes, women are taking notice of McCain's choice for the vice presidency.

For the clueless, CQ Politics adeptly explains:

As news of McCain’s pick broke, analysts [predicted] that Palin may help McCain do better among women, particularly those who are still incensed that Democrats chose Illinois Sen. Barack Obama over Clinton. The symbolism of the Clinton campaign appealed particularly to baby boomer women who saw her campaign as an extension of the feminist movement of the 1960s.
No matter how you slice it, the Post reminds us, either an African American or a female "will stride into one of the highest offices in the land -- not possibly but definitely, finally." And yes, but for Obama's shame, the Democrats could've broken the color barrier and shattered the glass ceiling -- a winning two-fer for change.

In other words, "We have the way, we have today, the time is now for change, the time is now." At long, long last.

"I Want Your Vote"

Although some may try to frame McCain's selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate as a pandering move meant to entice clueless Hillary supporters too bitter after their loss to vote for a person who embodies everything they are against, there is no denying the obvious.

Contrary to Obama who gave his big middle finger to Hillary and her 18 million supporters by not even bothering to vet the person who bested him by legions for the vice presidency, McCain just took a "big ol’ bite out of The Precious’ skinny butt" by picking a woman to be his running mate.

The Confluence explains:

For months the women supporting Hillary Clinton have been told to shut up and fall in line because they had nowhere else to go. John McCain just sent them this message:

“I WANT YOUR VOTE”

This was a brilliant move by McCain. Sarah Palin is young and telegenic, and any attack on her lack of experience opens up the GOP counter-punch of attacking Uh-bama’s lack of experience. When the He-Man Woman Haters Club launches misogynistic attacks on Palin (and they have already begun) it puts the GOP in the position of supporting and defending women.

[...]

Thanks for nothing, Howard, Donna and Nancy. It could have been Hillary Clinton, instead it will be a Republican.

Check on the would-be king...but stay tuned; the howler will be regularly posting with the latest on Palin after this latest bit of unexpected news. Just one little query to Obamaland before the big show, though. Still think Hillary supporters have nowhere to go??

Palin: Let's shatter the glass ceiling that Hillary cracked

Looks like McSame is stealing the thunder that could've been the Dems if only Obama had been wise in his choice for number two by picking Hillary.

The Conundrum of Anonymous

"Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good," Anonymous is a Woman, a Virginia blogger counsels the howler in a well thought out comment to an earlier post.

Yes, although Hillary would've been the perfect candidate for gazillion reasons, she warns to not allow the ideal destroy the "just good enough" in relationship to the alternative, McSame, which makes sense except for one tiny little problem.

Should there not be some kind of natural consequence for all the shenanigans that went on during the primary to prevent something like it from ever happening again?? You know, such as the browbeating by Obama supporters during Iowa, Nevada, Texas, and state caucuses; the shameful race baiting in South Carolina; the undemocratic formula that gave way too much clout to small red states when measured against populous swing states and blue ones; the disenfranchisement of Michigan and Florida until after the fact that eerily reminded the howler of Florida, 2000; the unfair portrayal by Obamazoids of Hillary as some sort of she-devil who would whore her first and only born child in order to win the highest office; the fawning media coverage that magnified any Hillary gaffe but snoozed through every Obama blunder; the social inequity of caucuses for folks who have to make a living and can't afford to take a whole evening to vote; and the list goes on and on.

Obama's answer to all that went wrong in '08 is to take away the power of superdelegates as if that had anything to do with the heart of the problem, which absolutely proves the Democratic presidential candidate just doesn't "get it," to quote his own words back.

One way to make sure everyone gets it is for Hillary supporters to make Obama pay for his folly. To make the Democratic party pay. To make the blogger boyz pay. To make every superdelegate who publicly declared for Obama pay.

Yes, it may be too steep a price to pay for justice, anonymous; and that's what each Hillary supporter must carefully weigh when going to the polls. It's not an easy choice, the howler can attest, for sure, but overzealous Obamazoids haranguing her into submission is not the way to get the howler's love. By thy deeds you shall be known, folks.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) addresses the DNC

The president that should've been...

"Were You In It for ME?"

Yes, we were in it for you. And we did it ALL for you.

We love you, Hillary. You are one classy, awesome lady.

On the Way to Unity Road...

On his way to Denver on Unity Road, Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania threw a well-deserved verbal grenade at the media.

According to Politico, Rendell "was supposed to give 'closing remarks' during this afternoon’s Shorenstein Center-sponsored panel discussion with all three Sunday show moderators — NBC’s Tom Brokaw, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous and CBS’s Bob Schieffer — but instead, he opened up a can of worms about bias in 2008 election coverage."
"Ladies and gentleman, the coverage of Barack Obama was embarrassing," said Rendell, in the ballroom at Denver's Brown Palace Hotel. "It was embarrassing."
And that's not even the half of it. No need to worry, though. The system is just hunky dory. Grandpa Brokaw told a cheering crowd of scribes who like a pack of hyenas had turned on Rendell that Tweety and Olby were not the "only voices" at MSNBO.

A loud obnoxious Tweety "HA" to that one. From media coverage to DNC delegate theft, the entire process was rigged.

Graphic and Headline Say it All

The Associated Press headlines the news of Obama picking Biden with the following lede and story thread:

Analysis: Biden pick shows lack of confidence.

The candidate of change went with the status quo. In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness — inexperience in office and on foreign policy — rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

With classic timing, Biden apparently received the happy news while at the dentist getting a root canal. Revascularization, that's what the Democratic party needs to win in the fall, for sure.

Meanwhile, the buzz in Denver is that Obamazoids are being as gracious and hospitable as ever.

H/T Corrente

Broken Hearted

Last night when Olby of MSNBO joyfully reported that Hillary hadn't even been vetted by Obama and Biden would likely be his v-p choice, the howler was absolutely devastated.

How dare Obama tease Hillary supporters by using language that singularly applied only to Hillary that very morning. Remember, this is the guy that's a wordsmith; words matter and all that crap.

All the time Barky kept insisting that Hillary was a possibility during his sham unity stroll of the last two months, he knew deep in his heart of darkness that Hillary had about as good a chance as little bro living on $1 a day in Kenya.

May Obama be infested with a thousand flees of the swiftboating kind. The howler is starting to really hate Obama with as much passion as she does Dubya. For her, each is the flip side of the other: drug abusers, no real experience, no substance behind catchy sloganeering and thugs directing the thin curtain of their political careers.

A few months ago, the howler asked, "Who is Obama's Cheney?" Something superdelegates might want to figure out before they vote for him in Denver. As for the howler, she's concluded that Dems need to learn a lesson. Don't toy with her emotions with cutesy condescending blather of the now you see it, now you don't; hee-hee, we really had you going for a while.

Unsurprisingly, the media reports that Barky wants to do away with superdelegates. Of course. He knows that only through sheer shenanigans he won all those contested caucuses; and maybe next time, supers will ignore the will of a few for the will of millions.

As a staunch Hillary supporter, the howler will send an unmistakably loud and clear message to Dean, Brazille and other party bosses: even though the howler has voted for every Democfatic presidential candidate her entire life, her vote must never be taken for granted. IF, and that's a big IF, she can't stomach voting for McSame, she'll either vote for Libertarian Bob Barr or Green Cynthia McKinney. Barack Obama will not be getting the howler's vote in November. You can take that to the bank.

Tennessee Guerilla Woman nails how the howler feels. Aggrieved, disrespected, totally dissed; oh, and totally pissed...

Hillary Rodham Clinton, the candidate who earned 18 million votes, was not even vetted. We're sure Biden's 200 voters are simply thrilled. The rest of us, well, just call us marginalized and invisible.

Back in the 1990s, Biden was the leader of the pack of 14 white male senators who conducted the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings. The committee of 14 men threw every sexist stereotype in the book at Anita Hill. Like Hillary, Joe Biden voted to authorize the war in Iraq, but that's so not a problem when a bro does it.

Obama HInts Sparring Partner for V-P

AFP via Yahoo! News reports that when asked who would be his vice presidential candidate, Obama answered that it would be an independent sparring partner.

Obama said he wanted somebody who is "prepared to be president" and who will be "a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families."

He said he was looking for not just a partner but a sparring partner. "I want somebody who's independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House."

Damn if that don't sound like Hillary...

H/T MyDD.

Would Clinton Be Crushing McSame??

Newsweek seems to think so...
While some Democrats panic (prematurely, experts say) over a series of polls showing the average gap between Barack Obama and John McCain shrinking from eight points on June 23 to 1.4 points today, another slice of the party--namely, the disgruntled-Clintonista contingent--is reacting with four cruel words: "I told you so." And thanks to the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, they have some ammunition. Released yesterday afternoon, the survey gives Obama 45 percent to 42 percent lead over McCain--down from his six-point advantage last month--while putting Clinton ahead of the Republican nominee 49-43. "The Democrats really needed Hillary to win, and not as VP," writes Stumper reader MCGILL. "McCain has it." Fellow commenter "jpokergman" goes one step further, predicting that Denver will "morph into a Hillary-buyer-remorse-lovefest," with "'we could have had Hillary'... rocketing through the Democratic convention" and the press "turn[ing] on Obama like a starving pit-bull."
Oh dear...

Obama Loses, Clinton Wins

As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, poll numbers are evincing the incontrovertible data that Barky struggles while Hillary wins.

And yet...Obamazoids are still unconvinced...throwing the audacity of their hope in a candidate that's been shown to fall wide off the mark. Indeed, the latest MSNBC and WSJ poll shows that without Hillary on the ticket, Dems are in for another heartbreaking but predictable loss in November.

The Chosen One nationally leads by three points -- within the margin of error but Hillary leads by six points -- outside of it.

Of course between the cold hard poll numbers, the shills at MSNBC try to frame the results so they can continue to perpetuate the meme that Hillary is a polarizing figure lest ANY superdelegate consider switching his or her allegiance to Hillary in light of Obama's dismal numbers.

[S]he remains a polarizing figure: 49 percent say they don’t want to see her as president someday, and 42 percent view her favorably versus 41 percent who see
her in a negative light.
You see, Hillary leads but she's polarizing. Barky struggles but EVERYONE loves him.

Again, the howler hates to keep beating the dead horse of past elections but she insists on reminding Dems what conventional wisdom foretold in 2000 when just about every media pundit asserted that Gore should not ask Clinton to help campaign because, well, just because....and Gore listened...and Gore lost.

One thing you have to give Dubya; he refused to allow media elites to direct how he would govern. He gave the big middle finger to critics like he was the most popular president in the history of the United States and proceeded with his disastrous policies over media and public outrage.

The moral of the story is to be very careful before one listens to media driven conventional wisdom. Especially since contrary to what newshounds would like Dems to believe, they're not on their side but of corporate America; you know, the folks who judiciously hand out caviar with champagne and control their cushy expense accounts.

Enough said. If media tea leaves are to be believed, superdelegates will anoint Obama; and Obama will pick some second-rate candidate to be his running mate. History will record once again how Dems lost it all because of some misguided animus toward Bill Clinton, the second most successful Democratic president in the 20th century (for which his wife paid the ultimate consequence -- a confounding snub).

Last Chance Superdelegates, Please to Do The Right Thing

Barack Obama Just Might Need Hillary

One of the most pro-Obama periodicals, The Nation, finally arrived at the same conclusion as the howler did many, many months ago.

Without Hillary on the ticket, Dems will lose.

Clinton, whether appropriately or not, seen by a great many Americans as someone who knows her way around the international stage. In fact, members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who are not fans of Clinton have told me that she has far better international connections than McCain or Obama.

She also has some pretty good connections in the swing states of Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Nah, you think?!@!?

If Obama takes the stage in front of the Old State Capital in Springfield, Illinois, Saturday with Evan Bayh at his side, it will be news -- but not very exciting news. If he does so with Joe Biden, it will be bigger new -- but it's not like Biden brings the "wow" factor.

If Obama takes the stage with Clinton at his side, it will be the dominant news story of the weekend, the convention and perhaps of the fall campaign.

Boy, that's the understatement of the century. Of course, if Hillary is on the so-called dream ticket, Obama will have to watch his backside. That's right, according to a few Obamazoids, his life just might be in peril with the bitch who dared dream of a presidency for herself. It's the periodic claws that come out every full moon without warning...

Ruff, ruff. Bou, bou, my little grasshoppers.

Obama Behind McCain in Electoral Votes

"It's official," Alegre's Corner reports. McSame leads Obama with 274 electoral votes against 264 for The Chosen One.

What's more, polling from yesterday shows McCain picked up seven electoral votes in one day alone.

Also, the new monthly Reuters/Zogby poll is out, and it's not pretty either...

Poll shows McCain in 5-point lead over Obama In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack bama in the U.S. presidential ace and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.

Folks, can you believe in one month Obama lost 9 points among Democrats and 12 points among liberals?

Well, as someone who considers herself liberal, the howler can attest to the numbers. Are you listening superdelegates?? Don't listen to folks like Donna Brazille who insisted in '00 that Gore didn't Clinton. For the last eight years, the country has had to live the nightmare of such short-sighted advice.

Come to think about it, sure looks like Barky better hurry up and select Hillary as his running mate or with his dismal polling numbers, he's likely to find himself on the outside looking in.

Hillary is Everyone's Favorite

In an AOL self-directed poll, Hillary led every other candidate by a sizeable majority. Fifty four percent of voters say they prefer for Hillary to be on the ticket.

Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware came in a distant second with 21 percent.

Meanwhile...CBS reports that delegates, like everyone else in the world want Hillary "by far...for the number two spot."
Six percent volunteer Delaware Senator Joe Biden, and four percent mention two other unsuccessful Democratic candidates: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards...Another 4 percent volunteer Indiana Senator Evan Bayh.
It certainly looks like that media crapola about Hillary being too divisive to win is exactly what the howler's been saying for a very long time. It's a contrived meme designed to muddle, bamboozle and obfuscate; and if Dems pay any attention, they'll find themselves on the losing end in November.

Geez, guess we're supposed to believe that if Andrea Mitchell or Leslie Stahl or Sallie Quinn or Maureen Dowd say that Hillary Clinton is a she-devil with horns that can't control Wild Bill (the last successful two-term Democratic president since Franklin Roosevelt, by the bye) and is weighed down with so-called 'baggage,' from her past, well, then the sky is falling, Chicken Little ate all the acorns and Foxy Loxy is pregnant with twins. A nice little fable from the media mommies to illustrate an important moral lesson for Democrats.

Hmmm, let's see. Does a history lesson by way of lost opportunities in '92 when Dems decided to show Bill and Hill who was really boss in Washington mean anything?? Oh that's right, the Dems lost both Houses; and with the media's blessing, GOPers went on to impeach a popular president.

Well, if somehow Barky should be anointed Democratic presidential candidate and he chooses anyone but Hillary as his running mate, we'll be talking about lost opportunities for a very long time once again.

For sure, please explain how picking someone else makes any kind of sense. The only thing such a choice would reveal is lack of vision and a vengeful heart. By either Obama -- or his most trusted adviser, Michelle -- or likely both.

Nader Predicts Hillary for V-P

Ralph Nader, who will live in infamy as the man solely responsble for Al Gore losing to Bush in '00 has a prediction to make.

Regarding Biden, Kaine or Bayh as potential running mates for Obama, Politico has a great quote with Nader proclaiming: "I don’t think he’s that dumb.”

“He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did” in picking rival Lyndon Johnson in 1960, said the liberal activist and maverick presidential candidate.

According to Nader’s logic, Obama may dislike Hillary, but will conclude he has no choice but to get over it if he hopes to leave next week’s convention in Denver with a unified party and a decent shot against John McCain in the fall: “The polls show 25 percent of her supporters have not gotten on board.”

Anecdotically, the howler has a tale of warning to superdelegates that is simply amazing. The last few days, she's been spending some quality time with an ol' chum from her youth. The friend has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election since she was 18 years old. But not this time, she told her. She'll either vote for McSame, Barr or stay home.

Now how pathetic is that...? All for the glory of his one man show!

If Obama does not choose Hillary, he will reveal to the world that notwithstanding Nader's confidence and his Ivy league past, he truly is very stupid.

BloggingStocks sums up the argument for Hillary rather nicely:
Adding Hillary Clinton, in most people's eyes, will slam dunk the presidential race and if Obama does not make this tough decision, putting success in front of politics and personalities, then I am afraid all his talk of being able to stand up to special interests and take the heat in the kitchen is just that.

No Shenanigans Out of Ohio

Sure makes a difference who sits in the governor's mansion...or in the secretary of state's seat.

The New York Times reports that Ohio Secretary of state Jennifer Brunner issued a directive to officials prohibiting them to take poll machines home. No more monkey business. If McSame is to win, he has to do it the old fashion way. He actually has to get more votes than Obama.

We want Ohio’s voters and the rest of the nation to see that we have prepared a transparent process of transporting voting equipment, ballots and supplies. That begins with security practices at boards of elections and polling places, documented chain of custody, and now procedures to make secure voting machine delivery.
And don't expect to see those huge long lines in minority districts like we did in '04, either. In fact, the howler thinks if anyone might have a little wait, it'll be those voting in Republican districts that foolishly and overwhelmingly went for Bush in '00 and '04.

How sweet it is...to be in charge; and Obama's only slim hope for a win without Hillary.

Obama Insults Clark

This Obama guy is more of a vindictive fool that the howler ever imagined.

Don't believe?? Read on and prepare yourself to be benumbed beyond stupefaction.

John McCain Bonus Nonsense

Bean Counter

Deborah Howell of the Washington Post once again writes a column slamming reporters for having the temerity to report only what they deem newsworthy. Like the seminal race between the first credible female presidential candidate and the first credible African-American candidate.

You see, Lil Miss Debbie is unhappy because poor Sidney McSame ain't getting any love from the media. Or at least not enough, although one intrepid reporter did investigate "the curious mind of John McCain."

The single most revealing story about McCain -- and one of the best Post stories on either candidate -- was a top-of-the-front-page look at McCain's intellect. The story, by veteran reporter and editor Robert G. Kaiser, was the kind of analysis that tells readers something they didn't know. It was neither positive nor negative, just revealing and insightful.
Remember folks, McSame is the guy who ranked 894 out of 899 at the Naval Academy. With his influential father and grand-father, McSame is just another legacy brat like Dubya; he got in Annapolis through blood not merit.

Moreover, with McSame's weekly appearances on all the Sunday gabfests for the last upteen years, Lil Miss Debbie forgot the geezer is old hat to most Americans. Back when every news article was about Bush and his merry band of enabling thugs like McSame, can't recall Miss Debbie clamoring for equal time for Dems, either.

But hey, "[t]he nomination of the first African American presidential nominee after a bitter primary campaign and his efforts to unite a party afterward" should take a backseat to the Geritol candidate with his soporific talking points such as those viewers heard last night at Saddleback Church.

Choice? Very bad. Tax Cuts? Rounds on the house for everyone. Supreme court justices? Double Alito and he'll raise you. Georgia and Russia scuffle? Evil, evil, evil. Kill. Kill. Kill.

The howler has to admit that after listening to McSame last night, she kinna finds it hard to fathom voting for him. Right about now Cynthia and Bobby are looking mighty fine. Or maybe she'll simply stay home for the first time ever.

Meanwhile back at the ranch at the Post, Miss Debbie demands that readers have equal occasions to read about the Republican presidential candidate as they do about The Chosen One. Equal time for McSame she decries, even if the guy hasn't had an original deliberation since he avoided being indicted in the Keating scandal.

Could You Be More Specific!?!

Even Obama fans are starting to worry.

The New York Times headlines a story about party leaders begging Obama to get real.

Fifteen governors along with state party leaders and members of Congress have noted that Obama's lofty rhetoric that by now has become hackneyed verbosity is leaving folks "vulnerable on multiple fronts despite weeks of cross-country and overseas campaigning."

Mr. Obama has run for the last 18 months as the candidate of hope. Yet party leaders — while enthusiastic about Mr. Obama and his state-by-state campaign operations — say he must do more to convince the many undecided Democrats and independents that he would address their financial anxieties rather than run, by and large, as an agent of change — given that change, they note, is not an issue.

“I particularly hope he strengthens his economic message — even Senator Obama can speak more clearly and specifically about the kitchen-table, bread-and-butter issues like high energy costs,” said Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. “It’s fine to tell people about hope and change, but you have to have plenty of concrete, pragmatic ideas that bring hope and change to life.”

About that message of hope, Barky, looks like Dems are finally calling your bluff and the only trump card you've got left in that old, stale race card you viciously used during the primaries.

Half of House Dems may vote Hillary at DNC

A quickie post reporting that half of House Dems may vote for Hillary in Denver.

Politico writes that steadfast Clinton loyalist Rep. Loretta Sanchez "predicts that as many as half of the Democrats in the House could join her."

Just how many former Clinton supporters will vote for the former first lady during the symbolic first ballot is anybody’s guess, but each of them will be called upon to do so.
Given a chance, each and every Dem who has a brain cell ticking even after the Obamafest bacchanalia of the last few months must vote for Hillary. As Alegre's Corner observes, Obama's poll numbers, like his Obamaplane, can't keep its "nose up."

Painful

Hillary on V.P.

Obama Messiah NOT

Barack Obama - Outlandish Birthday Behavior

[SEN-TX] Cornyn: Big John

Cornyn is a joke. The Texas Senate race reminds the howler of Doug Wilder's successful run for governor; you may recall, African-Americans came out in droves to support him. The Texas race also reminds her of Jim Webb's successful Senate bid against Goober Allen. Cornyn and Allen are blowhards joined at the hip of phony personas with their ten-gallon hats. Rick Noriega, on the other hand. is an excellent candidate; and you can bet Tex-Mex voters will show up in November to support him.

Obama Keeping Old Guard Off Podium

News reports that Obama failed to see any need to ask veterans of the civil rights movement to speak at the Democratic national convention in Denver must have a few seasoned activists seething with resentment and anger.

It seems the convention in Denver will be the first time in 24 years years that Rev. Jesse Jackson doesn't speak. The Hill writes that "Ronald Walters, a former Jackson aide who is the director of the African American Leadership Center at the University of Maryland, said he does not think Jackson will be asked to speak at the convention."

“I think he should speak, but he won’t,” Walters said.

Walters said Jackson holds a lot of sway in the African-American community and that Obama needs to select speakers who can talk directly to those voters.

Obama is also giving the cold shoulder to House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Ranger. Politico reports that this little slight is seen by "those close to the powerhouse Harlem congressman...as a spiteful snub."

Yikes! Talk about a major public dissin'. He's really pissing off a whole slew of people he might just need in the future. Not very smart. The problem with this new generation of younguns (although they ain't all that young) is that they have an exagerated sense of entitlement beyond normal limits; the world is their oyster and everyone else get the hell off the stage!

But not to worry. The Hill writes that Obama has asked folks like race baiting Jim Clyburn and Jesse Junior to speak and make the world right again. In the meantime, poor Al Sharpton also has been disinvited.

Hmm, should anyone be pissed off?? You know, like African-Americans who toiled under Jim Crow and are now being discarded like old dish rags by The Chosen One?? Guess we know which syndicate our new kind of leader came from: the one that throws former friends under the bus.

Yea, sure, Hill and Bill will get their chance to speak in Denver. But they've been squeezed between gazillion other speakers. Nevertheless, look for them to shine beyond anything Michelle, Barky, Warner and the mysterious vice president could ever imagine and then look for them to be blamed for hogging the show.

Hillary To Have Her Day in Denver

Politico reports that Hillary will have her day in Denver. All that PUMA heat finally broke through the cold hard heart of party regulars and Barky had no choice; he was forced to agree to place Hillary's name in nomination or his media extravaganza wasn't exactly going to go according to the scripted plan.

GITMO-like pictures of poor Dems arrested and jailed en masse in metal cages at some sleazy warehouse with barbed wires is not exactly the image and symbolism that Barky wanted to leave behind as The Chosen One who'd been singled-out to lead America back to the days of comity and who'd also promised to rule absolutely nothing like that god-awful Dubya with his gulag-like prisons for political enemies.

“I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton's historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history," the bloviator said. "And bring the party together in a strong united fashion." Of course.

Yes, it's only thing the sweet dear has been trying to do these last couple of months as his campaign negotiated how to bring healing to party, nation and universe.

Senator Obama’s campaign encouraged Senator Clinton's name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.
Well sweeties, don't believe that crap about Obama encouraging Hillary to place her name in nomination. Hell, only a few hours before the announcement, Michelle, Donna and the rest of the gamy matrons were seen screeching and screaming with their unmistakable claws out during a video conference call with Maureen Dowd's imagination.

Meanwhile, Alegre of Alegre's Corner writes the delegate race between Hill and Barky is a lot closer than anyone might imagine. Sure, the odds are long but hey, a few switches and it's a whole new ballgame. She's got all the juicy details...

Obama Needs the Clintons but No Keynote Address for Hillary

Howard Fineman of Newsweek wrote a column that observes the obvious. Barky needs the Clintons in order to win in November.

Fineman reports what a staunch Clinton supporter told Obama on the subject. It seems right after Obama had been anointed the presumptive nominee, the supporter counseled Obama to make nice with a "potentially disruptive Bill Clinton."

The supporter confided to Fineman that's she'd "pressed [Obama] to do more" to get the Clintons onboard.
"Barack told me it was hard to find the time, and I said, 'You'd better!' "
Guess Barky doesn't need Bill, Hill or any of their supporters in order to win. After all, Donna told him, "Forget these bitter folks; they're so OLD MUTUAL. We can win on a wing and a prayer of hope."

Well, Barky better stop drinking the kool aid before he overdoses from the sugary syrup and can't recover until after Election Day. Here's a fresh cup of truth for his hubris to help him along. Drink and be healed, Barky.
Obama advisers find Clinton a divisive and insufferable hypocrite who is merely yesterday's news. Yet he and FDR were the only modern Democrats to win back-to-back elections, and there is no doubt that a fired-up and ready-to-go Bubba would be a formidable salesman for Obama's cause.
Throughout the campaign, one thing has been apparent. Obama is full of himself; no answered prayers about "pride." And this is what's behind Barky's refusal to consider Hillary as a running mate or even make her the keynote speaker at the convention in Denver.

Sure, he can talk to Fidel, Chavez, Ahmadinejad and a whole slew of tyrants, but Bill Clinton?? Never. And those 18 million votes, who cares??

More reasons why people should not vote for Barky: lack of judgment and temperament to go with his arrogance.

Watch Group Report on Media Coverage of Rev. Wright

A conservative media watch group issued a report blasting the three major networks for failing to disclose the "noxious" language in some of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons, which were readily available on YouTube according to a story in Newsmax.

Now readers are welcome to discount the report as right wing hype, but the howler views it with the same prospect as any analysis by Media Matters. Both media watch groups pore over stories to see if media coverage matches the facts and then report those findings to the public.

With this in mind, an analysis by Media Research Center found that stories from the three major networks from February 10, 2007 (the date Obama formally announced his candidacy) thru July 15 reflected "a much more limited (and even censored) version of Wright’s sermons.”
None of the Big Three aired any of Wright’s 2003 sermon accusing the federal government of hiding the truth about their 'inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color,” and all three “mostly ignored” his remarks calling the 9/11 attacks “America’s chickens coming home to roost.”
That's right, the very first major story with "excerpts from a Wright sermon did not air until...March 13. By that time, 42 states had already voted in the primaries."

With the recent media blackout of the Edwards story, any fair-minded person has to concede the media sometimes doesn't play fair. They have their Golden Boyz, which unfortunately for Hillary during the recent Democratic primaries, did not include her.

Hillary Said "NO!"

Atlantic Monthly's post with intimate details of the Clinton presidential campaign that has had the media all-abuzz the last few days with bits and dribbles making their way, here, here and here (no link, it's HuffyPost) is finally up. An accompanying article summarizing the campaign and trying to explain exactly what happened is also posted.

Bottom line: Hillary was her "her own shrewdest strategist." Penn was mostly right (like his early warning about the Iowa caucus problem, his advice to expand press operations, his counsel of a Reagan Democratic alliance and so on); and Hillary was right in refusing to get into gutter politics -- even after Barky and his supporters called her a racist.

In the howler's mind, as soon as Donna, Jim and Jesse Jr., played the race card, poor Hillary never had a chance. And it is exactly the very reason why the howler refuses to temper her disgust at Obama Nation and why she'd just as soon he lose as win.

Actions have consequences; if Hillary supporters had publicly called Barky a woman-basher (such as when he made his little side comments about claws and periodic moments of angst) and demanded an immediate apology throughout Cableland and blogosphere, over and over, 24/7, costing him the vote of young female voters and the election, would his supporters not be clamoring for Barky to be on the ticket with Hillary, especially if he'd won every major swing state but New York and also led in total votes?

Now let's suppose Hillary blew Barky and his supporters off, would they not stay home or perhaps, gasp, vote for the other guy who at least had the tepid seal of approval from Sen. Russ Feingold (a person they not-so-secretly wished had run for president) as no wingnut?

Sure, Hillary could've released those pesky Rev. Wright tapes in February and stopped Obama's victory run dead on its track. But she didn't. And no matter how many times a progressive mentions the horror of a McCain administration, the howler hearkens back to the days of unity and Feingold's words. Hillary said no to negative attacks on Obama; and now her supporters are rightfully saying no to Obama.

How's that for karmic PUMA justice, folks??

Feingold Vouches for McSame

McSame no more.

In a story by Politico, Sen. Russ Feingold, the howler's former (and still) favorite person for president (besides Sen. Jim Webb) is well, once again his predictable lovable self.

When asked by a reporter from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel to share his thoughts on the Republican presumptive nominee, Feingold answered with his usual candor without giving it a second thought:
[T]he notion that somehow [McCain] is going to get in there and be some kind of ideological Newt Gingrich right-winger is a joke. There's no way that he would do that," Feingold said.
Having the seal of approval from someone like Feingold should make any PUMA less leary of pulling the lever for McCain. And that should really scare the crap out of any superdelegate who wants the White House in safe Democratic hands.

But nothing to see behind the curtain...move on.

Someone Gets It...

Michelle Cottle of The New Republic wrote an op-ed in The New York Times and proved she totally gets it.

Show some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the gal with the most votes. Without further ado, enter Hillary's name into the damn nomination, already, and forget about that bogus party unity crap. What's more, as Cottle notes, "[I]t’s the right thing to do" by all that's fair in the world.

You don’t have to be a die-hard Clintonite, or even much of a feminist, to be moved by the significance of her presidential campaign. In 1972, the Democratic presidential candidate Shirley Chisholm made history by having her 151.95 delegates entered into the convention record. Mrs. Clinton amassed more than 10 times that number. Her achievement deserves an official salute.

Symbolic gestures and signs of respect always hold a larger meaning for the campaign that came in second. More than a few of Mrs. Clinton’s devotees, including plenty headed to Denver this month, are in need of catharsis and a bit of closure. They remain convinced that their gal got a raw deal, that she was treated unfairly by the news media, that she was cheated out of her Florida and Michigan delegates by hostile power brokers like Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi, that she was a victim of sexism, that the historic nature of her candidacy was callously dismissed in all the hullabaloo over the historic nature of Mr. Obama’s, and on and on and on.

It goes without question that during the primaries Hillary was a victim of misogynist idiots like Olby, Tweety, Barnaky and of course, the Blogger Boyz. And although symbolic gestures are nice, Hillary supporters are actually looking for superdelegates to wake up and smell the scent of rotting roses coming out of the DNC's unity krater and nominate the most qualified candidate to be the Democratic standard bearer in Denver.

No empty token cradle of rhetoric. It's all or null.

Is Barky Afraid of the Real Bradley Effect

Alegre's Corner had a riveting post that got the howler thinking...

She fully agrees with Alegre that somethin' is really strange about Obama's foul scheme to deny the right of Hillary and her army of supporters a convention roll call. Yes, of course they're afraid that supers might switch allegiance; that's quite obvious. Yet considering Barky has had the nomination all wrapped up since forever, why should anyone be worried, right??

And yet...what if during the convention roll call, supers who told Obama's camp they'd be voting for him decide nope, they really want to vote for Hillary instead and do so.

Can you picture Eugene Robinson's dumbstruck face when he has to explain to viewers at MSNBO that unlike what he claimed during New Hampshire, this is what a real Bradley effect looks like?? The horror, the horror.

Some would say that when good people are harassed, bullied, lied to, ridiculed and abused, guess what: they don't like you very much. And they decide they've had enough and dump you for another. Of course, waiting in the wings to heal the party's self inflicted wounds with a win over McSame in November is Hillary. And the world is right again.

Hmmm, maybe that's what has all those Obama fans so worried. Yes, the howler is still thinking...

And she thinks that would be delicious irony of the just deserts kind that would serve each and every one of them right for using the race card to win.

Edwards Hand Wringing

Remember when the netroots cheered Michelle Obama's little salvo about running the White House..?

Oh how they applauded and praised her inspirational words. She was a huge asset to Barky; she was smart, beautiful, charismatic, refreshing; and everyone absolutely loved to hear her speak truth to power.

"[I]f you can't run your own house," Michelle said during those lazy hazy days of summer last year, "you certainly can't run the White House." Noble rhetoric of blame the victim for getting raped.

You see, Hillary was somehow responsible for Bill's womanizing; something that of course would never happen to someone who "personifie[d] success both as a mother and a career person" like Michelle the Wonderful.

Well, with news of Edwards' phony shtick, it certainly looks like the blogger boyz bet on the empty suit for president. Again. First it was Howard Dean the Savior. Then it was John Edwards America. Rest assured, next up is Barky the Messiah; and the tale will end the same way; the deliverer will come up lame.

Howling Latina would love to be a little fly on the wall to hear what Michelle has to say on the subject of infidelity and running the White House. For that matter, what do the blogger boyz think about "knowing the difference between good and bad, right and wrong"?? Every presidential candidate they have supported has had little moral mettle -- if any at all. So much for the new media knowing what's best for all of us.

Oh, and by the bye, even after his come to Babyjeezus moment with Bob Woodruff, Edwards is still lying.

Update: Obama throws Edwards under the bus.

Debbie is at it Again...

Little Debbie is up to her old tricks at the Washington Post; this time shilling for Obama. If the howler didn't know any better, she'd swear Deb has it in for Milbank or his editor or both.

What Rielle Hunter Told Me

Jonothan Darman of Newsweek pens an article about Miss Hunter and from everything the scribe writes, the lady sounds like a truly gentle soul. Even after their fallout, Hunter had the gracious heart to send him flowers after his father died.

Doesn't surprise the howler.

Usually powerful men with a Crest smile but a stone for conscience prey on decent women as easy marks -- whether it is to to join in marriage, a roll in the hay or as a source. And really no surprise that Miss Hunter is refusing to allow a paternity test. No doubt, something Little Johnny already knew when he bravely offered to take one.

One can't help but speculate if this bit of information might have had something to do with Edwards' timely endorsement of Barky right after Hillary whipped him good in West Virginia.

Well, here's a quote from John Edwards in 1999 on Bill Clinton as published in the Raleigh News & Observer.
"I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."
Two Americas indeed! What a two-faced, two-timing phony...

H/T Taegan Goddard's Political Wire for the quote.

Free Lance-Star Reader Comes Up with Interesting Proposal...

Today the Free Lance-Star, a small community newspaper in Fredericksburg (50 miles south of the nation's capital) published an op-ed by a local citizen with a catchy headline that offers a very interesting proposal. "Team Barillary, the only way to go," Donald Emmerling of Spottsylvania writes.

The only way for Barack Obama to get all of Hillary Clinton's votes is if they make a binding agreement that Obama would be president and Hillary vice president the first term, then Hillary president and Obama vice president the second term, and keep alternating for the third and fourth terms.

This way they would both be president, and they would have a break after four years. They would be an unbeatable team that no one could touch.

Hmmm, the howler might go along with the notion but...the order would have to be switched. Hillary for president in '08. After all, Hillary is the one with the most experience and the most votes.

Yep, this way way Barky can relax, study-up on his geography and stuff -- like how to run a country -- from the person who bailed his ass out during the primary presidential debates with discerning answers that he later claimed as his own.

Of course, all bets are off if Barky still hasn't mastered his political geography lessons from Uncle Bill by '12.

Is Obama the End of Black Politics?

The New York Times has an awesome article about the politics of being black. It honestly examines and delves into Obama's presidential candidacy and why some black leaders supported him and why some did not.

Here's Congressman Charlie Rangel on the subject of Obama vs. Hillary: “Of course I would support someone I knew and had liked and had worked with, versus someone I’d never heard of.”

Indeed -- an excellent point. Who is Barack Obama? What does anyone truly know about him?? And where are his footprints in the sand??

Obama is running his presidential campaign on the promise of bringing a new way of governing to Washington. Exactly what new way, he doesn't quite say but we're supposed to have faith and believe 'cause, well, he's proven time and again that he can be trusted, although exactly when he proved it, he doesn't say, either. But never mind, change is-a-coming...no one can stop it...and it's here to stay.

Well, Real Clear Politics has a real clear point to make on the subject:

Do we know -- does Obama even know? -- what he really feels about drilling off our coasts, tapping the strategic petroleum reserve, NAFTA, faith-based initiatives, campaign financing, the FISA surveillance laws, town-hall debates with McCain, Iran, the surge, timetables for Iraq pullouts, gun control or capital punishment?
Meanwhile, Mr. Hope and his merry band of followers have managed to royally tear the Democratic party asunder; divide father against son; mother against daughter; ally against former ally; everyone is at war with each other -- and no is safe from being trampled under the Unity bus.

Is this really the hope that we can believe in? Is this the ONE we've waiting for? Or...is Obama like fool's gold, shiny but no great prize...?

If superdelegates are foolish enough to vote for Obama as the Dem presidential candidate, then the only way to victory in November is for Hillary to be on the ticket. Someone with the depth of experience to get the U.S. out of the unholy mess we find ourselves in.

Much like Dubya's sham promise to bring civility and honor to the White House, Obama is running as a uniter who can put an end to all the fussing and bickering by the sheer power of his will. Or words. Or something. But as evidenced by the PUMA movement, Obama has done a horrible job with his unity shtick.

RCP makes another noteworthy observation. "[T]he more Americans get used to Barack Obama, the less they want him as president -- and the more Democrats will soon regret not nominating Hillary Clinton.

If the polls are right, a public tired of Republicans is beginning to think an increasingly bothersome Obama would be no better -- and maybe a lot worse. It is one thing to suggest to voters that they should shed their prejudices, eat less and be more cosmopolitan. But it is quite another when the sermonizer himself too easily evokes race, weekly changes his mind and often sounds like he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
That's right; the American public is refusing to drink the kool aid; and Obamazoids continue to write their rosy posts about Obama's game-changing national lead and why Hillary must not be Obama's running mate as if they didn't need Hillary's army of supporters to win.

Well, just ask President Al Gore how well a national lead worked out for him...

Hillary Still More Popular than Obambi with Democrats

In spite of what Obambi supporters would like people to think, Hillary won more votes during the Democratic presidential primary than The Chosen One and that's a fact.

Now a new poll shows that after two months of "unity," nothing has changed. Dems still favor Hillary over Obambi.

All those Obamazoid talking points about Hill being too divisive to be the candidate, well, The New York Times reports that Hillary has a favorability rating among Democrats of 70 percent. And the rock star? Sixty six percent.

The howler thinks it's way past time for pollsters to include Hillary in the presidential mix. Dollars to a donut she'd be whipping McSame in nearly every state in the Union.

Meanwhile, Obambi doesn't think Hillary supporters should be allowed a cathartic moment like a chance to vote for their preferred candidate in Denver. You see, it would just take all the "energy and excitement" away from Obambi; and might also cost him the nomination.

Dems Will Be Better Off for It

ABC reports that Hillary Clinton told supporters that she wants the voices of her millions of voters to be heard at the Democratic convention.

So much for the talking point that Hillary did not want her name placed in nomination.

Oh that's right, Howard Fineman took it back that Hillary "agreed not to have her name placed in nomination" to "Hillary's Denver itinerary is also unknown. It's also unclear whether her name will also be placed in nomination."

Let the 18 million of Americans who voted for Hillary have their voices heard in Denver. Unless Barky is afraid that it will be Hillary at Invesco Field instead of him.

Barack Losing Support Among Young Voters

Looks like the wise advice from mom and older sis is finally paying off. Young'uns are listening up.

McClatchy reports that a new poll shows young voters like everyone else are becoming disenchanged with The Chosen One.

Here are the sad results for the person whom Donna, Olby and Tweety said would remake the electoral map for generations to come. Hmmm, where has the howler heard this bit of heresy before?? Oh yea, Karl Rove -- Donna's bestest pal.
Barack Obama has lost ground among some of his strongest bases of support, including young people, women, Democrats and independents, according to a new ATV/Zogby poll.
Barky has lost 16 points among voters aged 18-29 to McSame. Ten points among women, 11 points among independents, 11 points among Catholics, 9 points among Democrats and the hits keep on coming.

Wizen up, supers. It's not too late. Get off the uncharted plane to perdition and join the sure-fire path to victory. Vote for Hillary.

Watch it Boyz...

Bill Clinton on "Good Morning America" said the obvious; he's not a racist. And the howler swears herewith that she's not a racist, either, although she can't help but wonder if Bill might have a few more words to say on the subject in the future...er...like a few days before Election Day.

Now to the topic dejour. Who is the best candidate to be Barky's running mate?

Don't wanna tip the howler's hand, but former Gov. Mario Cuomo zeroes in on the no-brainer with a great quote via Politico.

No matter who he picks,” said former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, “the question is going to be raised: Are you telling me that this person would be a better qualified vice president than Hillary Clinton?”
And please don't dismiss what Cuomo says and group him with another race baiting Democrat; you know, that awful she-monster Geraldine Ferraro.

If he picked Claire McCaskill or [Janet] Napolitano [or Kathleen] Sebelius, I think it would annoy women,” Ferraro said.
No switcheroo of the Clarence Thomas for Thurgood Marshall kind. It's Hillary or nothing.

Hate to sound like a broken record but...

"No matter who he picks the question is going to be raised: Are you telling me that this person would be a better qualified vice president than Hillary Clinton?"

Delegates for Hillary

Demand that Hillary's name be placed on the roll call.

Alegre's Corner writes:

As you know by now, there's a group of Hillary's delegates who are working hard to pull together the 300 signatures needed to get Hillary's name on the roll call ballot in Denver.

They've asked me to remind everyone here about their effort, and to post the above email so folks can contact them.

So if you're a delegate to our convention and you believe that a real election should include more than one name on the ballot (this is America - not Zimbabwe after all!) then please use the above email to contact the delegates behind this noble effort. They'll send you a petition to sign and you'll be a part of an historic event folks. Sign on now for unity's sake!

And if you know someone who's a delegate, please send them this email and ask (beg, plead, cajole) them to do the DEMOCRATIC thing and sign the petition.

Will the Real Racist Step Up...

A famous statesman recently noted: "Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again.

Or...was it: "You can fool some of the people all the time; and all the people some of the time; but you can't fool all the people all the time."

Nah, that was Lincoln.

Well, what the howler is trying to say is that every single racial card in Obambi's deck has been played. And folks are tired of the confidence game. Poor Obambi was last seen clutching the Old Maid -- an old queen of Spades without a match (as if it were a gun or a Bible).

Rasmussen's latest poll shows that Americans get what's been going on:

Sixty-nine percent (69%) of the nation’s voters say they’ve seen news coverage of the McCain campaign commercial that includes images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and suggests that Barack Obama is a celebrity just like them. Of those, just 22% say the ad was racist while 63% say it was not.

However, Obama’s comment that his Republican opponent will try to scare people because Obama does not look like all the other presidents on dollar bills was seen as racist by 53%. Thirty-eight percent (38%) disagree.

Oh dear...keep playing that race card, Obambi.

Two months after Obama clinched the Democratic Presidential Nomination, the race for the White House remains amazingly close in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.
