Mega-Church Minister Caught in Sex Sting
Undercover officers posing as a 13-year-old girl communicated with Joe Barron, 52, of Plano for about two weeks. The online conversations were sexual in nature, police said.
On May 6, Barron suggested meeting the girl in person. He eventually made the nearly 200-mile drive to Bryan on hursday, when he was arrested.
Barron was "one of 40 ministers at Prestonwood Baptist Church, one of the largest churches in the country with 26,000 members. He ministers to married adults.
The Dallas Morning News reports Brother Barron resigned his position effective immediately and Dr. Jack Graham quickly accepted it.
In further breaking news, "Texas has [now] overtaken the Vatican City as top global child molester hotspot with this week's arrest."
Oh dear; there goes another religious "counseling" career down the tube. Guess youth counseling is out of the question for Barron as well.
