Rangel Rankles -- Good for Him

Soon-to-be House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel of New York appears to have rankled some good ol' boy from Mississippi by casting aspersions at folks from the Magnolia State.

In an Associated Press article via Raw Story, Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss was distraught because Rangel gave a little taste to Mississippians what GOPers have been dishing out to the citizens of Massachusetts for a very, very long time.
Rangel, a Democrat, was quoted in The New York Times on Thursday saying: "Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?"
Now Rangel was just funnin'-- no need to get bent out shape or nothing. Remember Taxachussets? Oh, and how much laughter and fun it all was!

"Rangel said he didn't intend to insult the state, but Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., issued a sharp statement criticizing the choice of words.

"I hope his remarks are not the kind of insults, slander and defamation that Mississippians will come to expect from...Democrat leadership in Washington, DC.," Pickering said.

Chairman Rangel, no need to explain or apologize. As progressive bloggers have noted before, we need to trash the racist brand of Dixie for all to see and behold.

We can assume you're starting with Bill Clinton?
