Not Larry Sabato Blows It - 50th District Race

Not Larry Sabato is a blogger who according to his own byline is accurate with his predictions 99.7 percent of the time so far...

Nice caveat, just in case, so if he's off-target by a mile, he can claim he warned readers that he's fallible; he's wrong 0.03 percent of the time as whatever the latest example will prove.

But wait...James Martin of The Virginia Progressive notes that during the primary, NLS was wrong with his over-the-top predictions in nearly every instance. In other words, if you want a prediction, you might as well call the psychic hotline than listen to what Ben Tribbett has to say about a race.

Ever since their Kumbayah moment in Martinsville, rumor has it that Tribbett hearts Bruce Li. Li is the ultra-conservative blogger who trolls the blogosphere to see who he can piss off next.

Contrary to what NLS would have you believe, Jeanette Rishell is an awesome candidate; and out of all the people vying for office, she's one of the ones that most impressed Howling Latina; she just has that flavor of authenticity to go along with her agreeable disposition and deep knowledge of issues. She inspires people to go and work their butts off to help get her elected.

Readers will recall that voters who supported Bush claimed one of the qualities they liked about the president was that he was a 'guy's guy -- the kind of man they'd enjoy sharing a beer with even if he left them holding the tab.

Well, Rishell is the gal you want as your next-door neighbor. Looking out for the interest of community and always willing to lend a hand. The person you'd want to console you if your house burns to the ground. Wise and measured advice and a caring heart.

Ad hominem attacks from people who don't know Rishell and only read the raving rants of partisan hacks should really refrain from opining about her "outrageousness" without substantiating it with FACTS. Regurgitating GOP talking points does not qualify.

Remember, NLS was the blogger who looked into his foggy crystal ball and predicted Herring might squeeze out a win last winter. The fact of the matter is that Herring's victory was a BLOWOUT. More in line with what Howling Latina predicted back on Jan. 30.

After doing a little telephone canvassing, and taking a very unscientific anecdotal poll, I have concluded that former Loudoun County supervisor, Mark Herring will cream Mick Staton, "the son-in-law and political protege of former Del. Dick Black, a divisive and regressive presence in the House" who thankfully lost his reelection bid last November.
Many of Tribbett's so-called "predictions" hardly require an intrepid soothsayer to call. A crimson red district will almost always vote for a Republican -- and an azure blue precinct for a Democrat.

Now let's all sing a Kumbayah in the spirit of this post.
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

Someone’s laughing, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s laughing, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s laughing, Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

Someone’s crying, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s crying, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s crying, Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

Someone’s praying, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s praying, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s praying, Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

Someone’s singing, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s singing, Lord, kumbaya!
Someone’s singing, Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya! .
(Hat tip to James Martin for saving HL research time with the damning facts.)

Comments:
You forgot to mention that Ben Tribbet also Stumpped for an ultra-conservative Republican Michael Golden in 2005.

In the Potomac News, JR was quoted as saying that she wanted to limit the number of people in housing, in part because rescue workers wouldn't know how many kids were in the house.

Having a limit on the number of people in a house would do nothing to inform rescue workers how many children are in a specific house.

If she wants rescue workers to have that information, she should push for a law requiring homeowners to post the current occupancy list on their front doors.

I'm sure she's a nice woman, but her own words haven't yet convinced me she has a grasp of the issues, or any idea of how to make things better.

Gas prices are down almost 50 cents since she made that a cornerstone of her campaign -- government shouldn't be messing with the price of goods anyway, but again I don't see the grasp of economics, free markets, or the proper role of government.
