More GOPers in the Pardon Queue

The line just got longer by two more bodies.

Major media news outlets report that a Houston jury found Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling guilty of all charges in the Enron conspiracy and fraud trial.

The Associated Press via CBS writes:

Former Enron Corp. chiefs Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling were convicted Thursday of conspiracy to commit securities and wire fraud in a case born from one of the biggest business scandals in U.S. history.

The verdict put the blame for the demise of what was once the nation's seventh-largest company squarely on its top two executives. It came in the sixth day of deliberations following a trial that lasted nearly four months.

Didn't take them long to whip out a story. Like obituaries of famous people, looks like journalists had a guilty verdict story all lined up.

Update and Correction: Only Kennie-boy was guilty of all counts. Skilling was not convicted of nine of the criminal counts; the jury rendered a guilty verdict in "19 counts of conspiracy, fraud, insider trading and making false statements which, combined, carry a maximum sentence of 185 years."
