Looks Like Gov. Haley Barbour Has a Message for Sen. George Allen

The Associated Press via State.com (of South Carolina) reports GOP'ers held a big fundraising bash in the Palmetto State with George "Gomer Pyle" Allen as keynote speaker.

Before the mike was handed off to our favorite son, however, former Republican national chairman and current Mississippi governor Haley Barbour had a few spiked words for presidential wanna-bes, which of course includes Allen.

Barbour told the crowd of more than 1,000 people, "[T]hey have to stay focused on 2006 elections and turning out votes and not to be distracted by what may happen in the 2008 presidential race."

Yep, first things first, Señor Allen. Watch your back; your poll numbers don't look too good for an incumbent; and recent electoral history in Virginia does not bode well for you.
"There's nothing that we can do in '06 that will be as crucial to electing a Republican president in '08 as winning the elections in 2006," Barbour told the crowd.
A lackluster win will not do it; and we lefties in Virginia know Webb is going to kick Allen's butt in November.
