It seems a callous nature towards the less fortunate can be diffused by other means than genes alone. The first lady revealed a hard-boiled nature of her very own.

During a press conference at the Cajundome shelter in Lafayette with more than 6,000 wretched souls, Bush was asked to comment on the carnage that befell poor denizens of Louisiana, specifically New Orleans.

She eruditely pointed out to reporters, "This is what happens when there is a natural disaster of this scope."

Hey, life ain't always fair; just look at her hubby, if you need any further proof.

"The poorer people are usually in the neighborhoods that are the lowest or the most exposed or the most vulnerable, " she maintained. "Their housing is the most vulnerable to natural disaster. And that is just always what happens."

So let's make merry and cake for everyone.

It must be noted the First Lady didn't hang around long enough to impart further pearls of wisdom to her audience, a mere 30 minutes. Just barely time for a few photo ops and a heartbreaking tale or two from the sick and ailing.

Duty called; she had to scurry to her next appointment; and carry on with the business of First Ladyship in the theatre of La La Land.
